A-Mùr Pendand and the Murano's charme

Leaving from Verona a gray fog, that for once hovers high above our heads and do not wrap things and people, gives a dull and grimy colour  to the day. Some spark of light barely makes its way into the general drabness. We look at: not quite the perfect day for a visit to Murano. But the job appointment with Claudia at the glass laboratory of Tessaro Brothers, is a “sacred” commitment. We need to define some things that concern the production of A-Mur Pendant. So it’s absolutely necessary to meet Claudia to agree the changes and the arrangements to be done. And then we thought that, despite of weather conditions, Murano exerts upon us a special charm. And it's always a pleasure to go there. But near Padova the sky opens and a warm sun finds its way through the fog, giving us a beautiful sunny day. At Tessera Airport, where we’ll get the ferry to Murano, the sun, reflecting on the water of the lagoon, throw on our faces a light reflection  that force us to wear sunglasses. A cool breeze force us to raise the lapels of coats, but the emotions that this day is sending us are nice and the heart warm up...

How much beautiful is the lagoon ! It seems to immerse yourself in an atmosphere of another age, where time seems to stand still. A cormorant,  while opening its wide wings to dry at  the warmth of the sun, greet us. The waves, breaking on the edge of the boat, are mixing with the sound of the old diesel engine .. From faraway  we can see the churches steeples and rooftops of Venice. On our left  the basis of  Murano’s piers chart the way  to the dock.

"You are lucky," says the captain, "there was high water this morning and the sidewalks were impracticable."

Among us we think that this is a good day to come to Murano ....
We're going to the Fondamenta da Mula street, where there is Tessaro’s laboratory.

Walking down the sidewalk at our right al lot of shops exhibit a lot of  beautiful glass objects of various shapes.

It’s a show of colors and shapes, wonderful and unique, that reminds us where we are: in the homeland of handmade glass!
Murano is beautiful. Of a particular beauty typical of Venetian architecture. Wonderful buildings, some of whom abandoned to the age’s signs, travel the fantasy and give you the sensation of what was the greatness of these places in the historical moments of splendor.
We cross the iron bridge, which connects the two sides of the canal, and cross the iron gate in front of us, which leads to the laboratory. A narrow corridor, surrounded both sides from glass laboratories, some of which no longer in use, gives us imagine of what maybe was the greatness of this places when this art was flourishing and widespread. An open window lets us see a fiery furnace from whose mouth a blinding light give us the sensation felt by the master glassmakers when they offer the magic touch of the fire to their creations.

Finally we meet Tessaro’s Brothers. Stefano welcomes us with a smile and a greeting. All in the laboratory are working hard and our friend Claudia welcome us with a smile and a hug.
It 's always a pleasure to immerse ourselves in this place. We love to see these strange and beautiful shapes taking life by the skilled hands of Tessaro’s. The patience these guys have while modelling the glass subjected to heat of the flame, the apparent ease with which the glass surrender to their hand tool. It 's wonderful to see them blow through the glass rods to expand and shape the forms, then pass them over the flame, then blow again and then refine them with the hand tools until the glass is still hot ... All take shape..... They seem simple and repetitive actions... But then you can see the finished products .. Observe them, take in hand, you can feel them ... They excite you! And you understand that behind these seemingly simple gestures there’s the master's art ....
This is how the A-Mur Pendant born. Unique objects worked, blown and shaped one by one. There is no form alike. Small differences make them special and perfect objects in their uniqueness.

Behind this there’s the value of the hand-creafted work, that we want to enhance with the Elisir Sovrani project.

Time passes and you do not realize it. Last details with Claudia and then it’s time to leave . We say goodbye to our friends and we return to the boat stop. The sun, low on the horizon, reminds us that we are in winter and the days are slowly getting shorter. The colors that  Murano and the Venetian lagoon give us this afternoon are exciting .....
  
We return to Verona with the awareness in the heart that the assembly between Elisir Sovrani and the glasses’s sweetnesses of Murano, is a Godsend .
